INTRODUCTION TO THE SPORT OF BARN HUNT
Open to ALL DOGS. You do NOT need to be registered with Barn Hunt Association, LLC, to participate.
At this workshop we will introduce dogs and humans to the elements of Barn Hunting. This includes rules, rat introduction, building prey drive, climbing and tunneling with straw, finding the rat in a tube on an Instinct course, and practice on a Novice type course. We will be working in an air-conditioned building.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AN INSTRUCTIONAL EVENT WITH ATTENTION TO INDIVIDUAL DOG/HANDLER TEAMS. THEREFORE, ENTRIES ARE LIMITED AND ARE BY PRE-ENTRY ONLY.
Introduction to the Sport of Barn Hunt starts at 9 am with door opening to the gym at 8 am so that you can set up your crate, sign in, and get settled. The morning session is a demo, lecture, and actual introduction of a live rat to the dog. The afternoon session is a mock Barn Hunt Trial with Instinct and Novice classes, just as you would encounter at an actual Barn Hunt Show. Intro usually ends at 2 - 3 pm, depending on the group of dogs that we have.
FEE: $75 per handler/dog team; $70 for second dog with same handler; $65 for third dog with same handler. $20 for auditors without a dog.
Completed entries will be accepted as received. Your entry must be accompanied with applicable fees and signed liability waiver to be considered complete. Entries are by the “first received method” and will be limited.
Note: Intro’s fill quickly. Enter early to reserve a spot. Entries accepted by "first received method" until filled or closing date.
Refunds: Refunds are ONLY allowed if requested before the closing date. No event fee will be refunded if the event cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, an act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, or any other cause beyond the control of the event committee. Entry fees will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, sick, excused, or barred from the event.
You will receive an initial confirmation of receipt of entry. A final confirmation with more detailed information will be sent within a week of the Intro.
